2021 see’s us really expressing creativity in our interior, with bold and innovative styles. It brings us two diverse spectrums, one embracing bright and bold contrasting colours, and the other indulging in earthy, organic natural textures and calming hues.

1/ Life’s a beach

The popular back-to-nature trend will continue into the year, we’re thinking natural textiles, and warm earthy tones that create a relaxing, down to earth space. Keep everything neutral, and introduce natural accessories and light fittings. Bring the outside in, with trendy rusted metals and terracotta, and marble furnishings.

2/ Hotel chic

Plush, warming carpets are going to be huge this year, with comfort and wellbeing at the forefront of our priorities. Whether it’s a luxe velvet style, or a chunky loop for a soft-to-touch feel, we’ll be bringing that fresh hotel feel into our homes. 5/ Playful patterns

We are pleased to announce Ashby Carpets & Flooring are now open by APPOINTMENT ONLY.

We have worked hard to ensure we are following the government’s Covid Secure Guidelines to safely greet customers back into our carpet shop and flooring shop and safely visit and work in customers homes.

If you would like an appointment please call us on 0118 9351868.

We ask that you please be read and follow our “COVID-19 9 Steps to Safer Working Together” and "COVID-19 Working in your home" (below) before attending an appointment or booking any measures or fitting.

If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to give us a call.

We look forward to welcoming you back into our shop and doing business with you once again.

COVID-19 - 9 STEPS TO SAFER WORKING TOGE THER

• Entrance by appointment only, maximum of 2 adults (18+ only).

• Please only enter the shop if you or anyone in your family or “bubble” haven’t shown any symptoms in the last two weeks.

• Please ensure you are wearing a face covering before entering and throughout your appointment.

• Maintain 2 metre Social Distancing at all times.

• Ring the bell on your arrival.

• On entry to the shop please put on the gloves provided and thoroughly sanitise them using the sanitiser provided.

• Please remain on the shop floor at all times. (Access to the office and toilets are strictly for staff only.)

• Please avoid touching surfaces, hands and face wherever possible.

• Please avoid hand shaking.

COVID- 19 - WORKING IN YOUR HOME

We will;

• Not enter your property to complete any installations or measures if any of our staff are displaying symptoms of COVID-19 or if they have knowingly been in contact with anyone also displaying symptoms.

• On arrival we will knock on your door and step back to maintain the 2-metre distance whilst we greet each other and ask you please direct us to the area needed.

• Wear face coverings throughout the duration of installation in your home or work setting.

• Maintain the 2-metre social distancing guidance wherever possible.

• On departure, if requested, wipe down any door handles or surfaces we touch with disinfectant wipes.

We ask that;

• Where possible before we enter your home or work setting that you open all internal doors to reduce our contact with door handles.

• Where possible please open windows in the areas that the work is being completed.

• When we are visiting you to measure and estimate please direct us to the room/area in question and give us space to take our measurements. We ask that any conversation with us happens in an area where the 2-metre social distance rule can be maintained. Where possible we ask that conversations take place outside in the fresh air.

• Please do not be offended when we do not accept kind offers of drinks or food. We shall provide our own and consume off your premises.

As we continue to face unprecedented changes due to COVID-19 the health and well-being of all our customers and employees remains are upmost priority.

Considering this and in following with the most recent UK government guidelines, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close our flooring shop from today, Saturday 21st March.

We expect many changes in the upcoming weeks and we will continue to update you on any key changes as they happen.

We look forward to a time where we can welcome you into our carpet shop again. We would like to thank you for your support and patience at this time.

We will be in touch with any customers that have work booked in with us.

Covid-19 Customer Update

Dear Customers,

As the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation continues to unfold, we wanted to reassure you that our number one priority remains the safety and well-being of our team and customers.

We want to reassure you that we are taking the risk of this virus very seriously and have spent time analysing our operations to see how and where we can prevent its spread.

We are staying well informed of the developing situation and are following the advice and recommendations from the Government, Public Health England and the World Health Organisation.

We are currently taking the following steps to take care of our customers and staff -

- We will always extend a warm welcome but for the time being this welcome won’t be accompanied by a handshake or any other physical contact.

- Hand sanitiser is available at the customer and staff entrances to our shop. We kindly ask all who enter the shop to use it.

- All staff follow personal sanitation procedures prior to starting work and throughout the day.

- Our fitters will use hand sanitiser throughout the duration of the installation process. They will also have their own soap and hand towels with them if you’d rather they washed their hands using your facilities, please tell them if you’d like them to do so.

- All credit card machines are wiped down after each transaction.

- Door handles are disinfected at regular intervals throughout the day

- We are following the latest Government recommendations and asking any team member with flu-like symptoms, a dry cough or temperature, to self-isolate for 7 days. Also, any members returning from certain affected areas abroad, or those who have been in close personal contact with someone who has contracted the virus to self-isolate for fourteen days.

- To keep our staff safe whilst working in your home we respectfully ask our customers to please inform us if any of these factors apply to you. We will reschedule your appointment with no charge.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation in these uncertain times. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and loyalty.

Happy Birthday to Us!

Celebrating 40 Years Trading and our Shops 30th Birthday this September.

This month we proudly celebrate 40 years trading and the 30th birthday of our carpets and flooring shop! To mark the occasion we wanted to share the story of how we came to find our shop all those years ago...

The Great Storm that took place in the night of October 15th and the early hours of October 16th 1987 was the worst storm in the UK in nearly 300 years. In the event winds gusted at 115 miles an hour across the UK causing death and distruction. Peoples lives were altered in many different ways. But it actually changed our lives for the better. We were a young couple with two small children and we had been desperately trying to find a shop in the area to continue to run our flooring business from. We had been told by Wokingham Council that we could no longer run our business from home and had to find an alternative way to carry it on. It had been a stressful and worrying time as we were unable to find a business premises that suited our needs and we were beginning to run out of ideas of what to do next. On the morning following the storm we were surprised to be greeted on our doorstep by a little Dove who had become injured in the strong winds. He couldn’t fly so we placed him in an abandoned cat basket and went up to the local pet shop on Silverdale Road, Earley to buy him some seed. It was then we discovered that the old bakers shop next door to the pet shop was up for let. We put in our offer and were lucky to be accepted as the new tenants of 13a The Parade, Earley in August 1988. We opened our shop on September 26th 1988. We are now proudly celebrating this exciting milestone.

We are so thankful to the little injured Dove who visited us that morning after the storm as without it we would never had been aware of the shops availability. It truly helped change our lives and we have never looked back.
